5 Anniversary Trip Ideas for You and Your Love

Check out these 5 anniversary trip ideas to have the perfect getaway

Getting ready for an anniversary? We have Some Great anniversary trip ideas for you to check out.

Before you pick up the phone to make dinner reservations, stop to think about how lucky you are to have found a partner that gets you. Or who laughs at your jokes. OR who calls your mother on her birthday every year - without a reminder.

That's true love.

Dinner and flowers are nice, but experiences are memory makers. There are anniversary trip ideas for every couple, and it's easier than you think to find the one that's right for you and your favorite person.

Ready for an adventure?

Idea #1: Immerse Yourselves in a New Culture

Take the stress out of planning your trip by going with a theme. Vacations planned around cultural exploration can last a day or a month and can be arranged whether you want to trek the Australian Outback or stay within a fifty-mile radius of home.

Start by doing internet research on a few places you'd like to go. It won't take long to discover the history and culture about that spot -- aka, "what it's all about." Here are a few examples to get you started:

  • Albuquerque, New Mexico: Annual Balloon Festival
  • Austin, Texas: All things music (the food isn't too shabby, either)
  • Sydney, Australia: The classics - art, music, and theatre

If you don't have any particular places picked out, then do a "reverse lookup" based on what you like. Whether you and your partner are into haunted ghost tours, hitting festivals around the world, or snorkeling, you'll find anniversary trip ideas (and locations) you may have never thought of before.

Idea #2: Sail Away

Many people automatically think of the ocean and beaches when they picture a vacation. You can only see so much of the ocean from the shore, however.

If you want to head out for sunsets over the sea or an all-inclusive anniversary trip, a cruise could be the perfect solution.

Reasonable cruise rates can certainly be found, especially if you live near a port. If budget isn't a concern, though, and you want to enjoy culture off the continent (see Idea #1), consider a European River Cruise.

River cruises offer a fantastic way to glimpse the kind of history you just can't experience here in the comparatively "New World." The boats carry much less of a passenger load, so you won't have to worry about long lines at the buffet.

Idea #3: City of Lights

Paris!

Paris IS romance. The lights, the language, the cafes - it's all about love when it's all about "Paname"!

Also, they have beignets.

Idea #4: A Change of Scenery

If you live in Hawaii, you probably don't want to surprise your sweetheart with an anniversary trip to Florida.

Change can be exciting, and excitement is a great way to add some spice to your romantic get away.

This idea works best if you go the whole nine yards in the scenery switch - from beach chair to ski lift, Michigan to Cancun, or nights under the stars to nights by the fire.

Idea #5: Grand Gesture Anniversary Trip Ideas

You might think that the "Grand Gesture" of romantic anniversary trips must be expensive and for the select few - fortunately, you'd be wrong.

Your anniversary is the PERFECT time to look back at your history as a couple - first date, favorite hangout, etc. Planning a weekend around all the places you've weaved into your relationship can be a great way to travel down memory lane.

In order to keep some spontaneity in the works, plan a few surprise stops where you can make new memories. Choose an Inn or Bed and Breakfast near the area and mix the new in with the old.

By the end of this vacation, you should have a renewed sense of togetherness and a couple days spent together without the fuss of luggage, boarding passes or switching currency.

Have fun cooking up some great anniversary trip ideas, whatever they may be, and Happy Anniversary!
